Mighty Little Bheem (2019) Season 1 on Nextflix:

I enjoyed watching this series with my daughter who loves Chota Bheem Series so much that there was spill over on her Birthday cakes as well. Now, she has diverted her attention to other animated series on POGO.

The animation is done well for this Mighty Little Bheem Series. Also the episodes are crisp and short. They have fewer or no dialogues and mostly works on body language. So there is no language barrier to enjoy this mini series.

The Bheem in this series is cute and adorable. It is nice that he has a mother who wasn’t there in the earlier Chota Bheem series, if I remember right. I have downloaded this series and saved it on a pendrive, so that my daughter can watch it anytime, even if Netflix is down for some reason.

Hoping to see season 2 soon. My rating for this series is 3/5. Recommended.

Colombiana (2011) English Movie Review:

I remember well my good friend Madhavi Gadgil had mentioned about this movie somewhere long back. It was in my mind to see this one. Finally, happened to see this action flick and wasn’t dissappointed a bit. It held my attention from start to finish. The movie has cool action and stylish presentation. I like girls with guns movies. Remembered Angelina Jolie while watching this one.I liked Zoe in this movie and only after searching for her name did I realize that she was in Avatar.

Though this one is a typical revenge action drama, but still it is entertaining and has edge of seat aderline action scenes. Zoe Saldana has tremendous screen presence and beauty as well. She is believable as a stone-cold assassin, especially the way she sneaks and crawls around like a Ninja.

All in all, a good action movie. My rating is 3.5/5.

Maharshi (2019) Telugu Movie Review:

I am glad that this one is Super Star Mahes Babu’s 25th Movie. This one is like his ‘Swades’. I felt that the second half was bit lenthy, but it was good. I ended up liking this one. It has current relevant social problem : farmers and their issues. You don’t need to be highly educated to understand where are we going? I mean with ever increasing population and with it increased desires/greed to have more property than it is required.

Agriculture lands have been converted to concerte jungles…cities are spreading its tentacles like gaint octopuses…farmers are ending their lives..farm lands are disappearing, but who really cares? As long as food is available no one is really bothered. One day, the farmer who cultivates and provides food to us would be extinct. Farm lands may end up in our history books. Then what would we feed ourselves? Currency notes would become useless once food shortage hits the peak.

I was surprised to hear audience discuss about farm lands and farming while coming out of the theatre. I feel any movie that entertains and gives food for thought is a good movie. I think Maharshi has achieved that! If the first half of the movie is about friendship between Mahesh and Naresh. The last 45 minutes picks up the tempo of the movie with the social message. Songs are let down.

My rating is 3.5/5. Recommended.

Kavaludaari (2019) Kannada Movie Review:

This one being second movie of Hemanth after his wonderful debut Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu, so expectations are high.I happened to see it in Miniplex which is like watching a movie on my mobile I didn’t expect the screen to be so small, if not, I wouldn’t have booked the last row seat. Anyways, coming back to movie, though the story is simple, but the treatment is different. On the plus side, the movie has experimental cinematography and narration which works.

Performances by Rishi, Anant Nag and Achyuth Kumar are great. They stand out, especially, Rishi and Anant Nag. Music by Charan Raj is another major contribution to the movie. Especially, the BGM of the movie is amazing in one word. I have been listening to it since I saw the movie and it is addictive! The suspense keeps you guessing till the end.

On the downside the movie has it loopholes, like the security of the CM and the climax aren’t realistic enough. The movie is a slow burner. Add to this, it has many co-incidences. Like the last one which isn’t really required.

Rishi has come a long way after his happy-go-lucky character in Operation Alamelamma(2017). It is nice the movie has English subtitles. Others who don’t know Kannada can watch this one too! All in all, a nice movie.

My rating is 3.5/5. Recommended.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) English Movie Review:

This one was a treat to watch as if a comic book had come to life on screen. The animation was amazing with a well written story. I have grown up watching the amazing spider man animated series on TV and this one made me feel nostalgic.

The story is about Miles Morales who is bitten by a radioactive spider, thus giving him the super powers. Then he meets the Spider-Man (Peter Parker) who is killed by the villian Kingoin. While everyone is mouring the death of Spider-Man, Peter Parker from another dimension lands here. So,do the other Spidey characters from other dimensions as well. They all team up to fight the villian. Also they help in making Miles the new Spider-Man.

With great power comes great responsibility and we all can be heroes. This is the idea behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

I recommend to see this movie with entire family and enjoy! My rating is 4.5/5.

Thadam (2019) Tamil Movie Review:

This one is an interesting thriller which is unpredictable until the climax, which is rare thing in most movies that I have seen. The movie has a simple plot or storyline. However, it is the treatment that makes it different. The last movie i remember seeing Arun Vijay was in Kuttram 23, another well made thriller.

The best thing about this movie is its gripping screenplay that keeps one on edge of their seat for most part of the movie, especially second half. A rich young man is brutally murdered in his apartment with virtually no evidence to tie back to the killer. A selfie that shows Arun Vijay in the background comes as a much needed rescue to the police. Inspector Gopalakrishnan (Fefsi Vijayan), who has a score to settle with Ezhil, picks him up in no time. However, the plot becomes complicated from here onwards. Three women play the lead in this movie,

Tanya Hope and Smruthi Venkat have limited screen presence. However, they leave their mark. While Vidya Pradeep plays a cop and she makes best use of her screen space. Sonia Agarwal is a single mother and a gambling addict in the flashback. Magizh Thirumeni does a good job as the director of this gripping thriller.

Thank you Sunil Kumar S for recommending this thriller to me!

My rating is 4/5. Highly recommended!

Sanju(2018) Hindi Movie Review:

Finally, got to see the movie.Somehow, had avoided it for so long. The best part of the movie is Ranbir playing Sanjay Dutt and he goes under the skin of the character literally. Perhaps, his best act todate. However, I felt there could have been a better choice than Paresh Rawal playing Sanjay Dutt’s father Sunil Dutt. It is just my thought. Manisha Koirala as Sanju’s mother was good and though her role was brief it was touchy. Sonam Kapoor Dia Mirza and Anushka Sharma’s roles are short, but interesting.

Vicky Kaushal as Sanju’s best friend leaves a mark. Not sure how far this character was true in Sanjay Dutt’s life? Basically the bio pic picks some crucial chapters from Sanjay Dutt’s life. It is about a man who made too many bad choices. Also there seems to be some justification for the same. It works as a movie.

Also there is a thin life between reel life and real life. Especially, when Munna Bhai M.B.B.S scenes comes up.Ranbir almost becomes Sanju and one can’t differentiate. Rajkumar Hirani has done a good job with this biopic. It is nice that all his movies have struck a chord with audience and have done well.

Agreed, many pages from the actor’s life is missing here. But nevertheless, this biopic makes an interesting one time watch. My rating is 4/5.
